Digital marketing support, social media management, and behind-the-scenes work.
I’ve been providing digital marketing support and working with businesses in one capacity or another for years, and I’ve recently come to a funny realization. I’m not entirely sure the people closest to me actually understand what I do for a living.
I’m pretty sure even my own mom couldn’t explain it.
And if my mom doesn’t understand what I do, there’s a good chance other people don’t either.
When someone asks what I do, I usually give them the shortened version. I work in marketing. I manage social media. I help businesses with their online presence.
All true. But none of those explanations really tell the whole story.
So I thought it was time to explain exactly what I do, why I do it, and who I work with. Not in complicated marketing language, but in a way that makes sense whether you’re running a business, thinking about starting one, or just wondering what on earth I spend my days doing.
First, What Does Digital Marketing Support Actually Mean?
Let’s start with something simple.
Think about a business you follow online. Maybe it’s a local restaurant, a clothing boutique, a nonprofit organization, or someone offering a professional service.
You see their Facebook posts, Instagram graphics, videos, announcements, promotions, and occasional emails. Maybe you read something on their website or come across a blog they published.
All of that communication has to come from somewhere.
Someone needs to figure out what to say, who they’re talking to, how to present the information, and when and where to share it.
Sometimes the business owner handles everything. Sometimes there’s an in-house marketing team. And sometimes there’s someone like me working behind the scenes to help make it happen.
That’s the simplest way I can explain my work.
I help businesses communicate with the people they’re trying to reach, and I help manage the many moving pieces involved in doing that consistently.
But there’s more to it.
What I Actually Do for My Clients
My work varies depending on the business and what they need. I don’t believe every client needs the same services, and I certainly don’t believe every business needs to be on every social media platform.
Some clients need someone to develop and manage their content. Others have an established marketing strategy but need dependable help carrying it out. Some need assistance with a specific project, while others need ongoing support.
Here are some of the ways I help.
Social Media Management and Content Creation
This is probably the part of my business most people recognize.
I help businesses plan, create, organize, and publish content for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other channels that make sense for their audience.
That might involve developing a content calendar, writing captions, creating graphics, coordinating photos and videos, scheduling posts, or managing the ongoing publishing process.
But social media management isn’t simply putting something on Facebook three times a week.
It’s understanding the business, identifying what its audience needs to know, and finding ways to communicate that information clearly and consistently.
A nonprofit trying to recruit volunteers needs a different approach from a retailer introducing a new product. A professional service provider trying to establish credibility has different goals from a creator building an audience.
That’s why I don’t believe in handing everyone the same generic content calendar and calling it a strategy.
Marketing Strategy and Planning
Sometimes a business owner knows something isn’t working with their marketing, but they can’t quite identify the problem.
Maybe they’re posting regularly but aren’t getting much engagement. Maybe their message feels inconsistent. Or maybe they’re trying so many different things that they’ve lost sight of what they’re actually trying to accomplish.
This is where planning and strategy become important.
I look at the business, its goals, its audience, and its current marketing efforts. Then I help identify opportunities to improve how it’s communicating and where it should focus its time and resources.
Not every solution requires more content, more platforms, or a bigger budget.
Sometimes it requires a clearer message and a more realistic plan.
Content Publishing and Behind-the-Scenes Support
Here’s something people may not realize: not every business needs someone to create its content.
Some businesses already have great photos, videos, graphics, and captions. What they don’t have is the time or desire to keep everything organized and consistently published.
That’s why I also offer Content Publishing Support through ASG Media Group.
The business provides its finished content, and I handle the scheduling and publishing according to the agreed-upon plan.
It’s a more focused service than full social media management, and for the right business, it can be exactly the kind of help that’s needed.
I’ve always believed that good support should fit the client, not the other way around.
Other Marketing and Creative Projects
Over the years, my work has extended beyond social media.
I’ve worked on website content, WordPress projects, graphics, content repurposing, promotional materials, marketing coordination, and a variety of administrative and creative projects.
I’ve also worked alongside other marketing professionals and agencies, helping execute projects for their clients.
That experience has taught me how many different skills and responsibilities go into keeping a business running and visible.
And while I don’t offer every possible marketing service, I can often help a business figure out what kind of support makes sense for the work it needs done.
Who Do I Work With?
This is one of my favorite things about what I do.
I don’t work with just one type of business.
Over the years, I’ve supported small businesses, entrepreneurs, nonprofit organizations, marketing agencies, and professionals working in a variety of industries.
I’ve worked with people who are just beginning to build their businesses and others who have established companies with multiple moving parts.
I especially enjoy working with small-business owners and women entrepreneurs who are passionate about what they’ve created but have reached the point where they simply can’t do everything themselves.
Some are incredibly creative and full of ideas but need help turning those ideas into an organized plan.
Others are excellent at what they do but have absolutely no interest in spending their evenings creating social media posts.
And some have a team in place but need another experienced person they can depend on to get the work done.
What they usually have in common is that they’re trying to build something meaningful, and they need someone who understands both the creative and practical sides of marketing.
Why I Do This Work
I’ve been involved in online communities, content creation, and digital business for a long time. Long enough to remember when social media looked very different from what it does today.
I’ve watched platforms come and go, algorithms change, marketing trends take off, and business owners feel increasingly pressured to keep up with all of it.
But the part of this work I’ve always enjoyed most hasn’t really changed.
It’s the people.
I like learning about someone’s business. I like understanding why they started it, what they’re trying to accomplish, and what matters to them.
I enjoy taking a collection of ideas, challenges, and moving pieces and helping turn them into something organized and useful.
And I genuinely enjoy the behind-the-scenes work that helps someone else move forward.
There’s something satisfying about knowing a business owner can spend more time serving customers, developing products, or simply enjoying their life because they have someone dependable handling part of the workload.
That’s meaningful to me.
What Makes Working With Me Different?
I’m not interested in pretending ASG Media Group is a giant marketing agency.
It isn’t.
When you hire me, you work with me.
I’m the person getting to know your business, discussing your goals, working on your content, and helping manage the projects we’ve agreed upon.
That direct relationship matters to me.
I also don’t believe in telling business owners they need every service under the sun just because those services exist.
Some businesses need comprehensive ongoing support. Others need a few hours of specialized help or assistance with one particular project.
My job is to understand the difference.
I bring years of experience, a practical approach, creativity, and an understanding that behind every business is a real person with responsibilities, priorities, and a life outside of work.
I want the work we do together to make sense for your business.
How Do You Know If You Need Marketing Help?
You don’t necessarily need to wait until your marketing becomes completely overwhelming.
Sometimes the signs are pretty straightforward.
You have ideas for content but rarely find the time to create it. You know your website or social media needs attention, but other responsibilities always take priority. You struggle to maintain a consistent message, or you have marketing projects that never seem to get finished.
Maybe you’re doing everything yourself and starting to realize that your time could be better spent elsewhere.
Or perhaps you already have a marketing team and simply need another experienced person to help with execution.
Those are all reasonable reasons to explore getting some support.
And getting help doesn’t mean handing over complete control of your business. It means deciding which responsibilities make sense to keep and which ones someone else can handle.
So, What Do I Do for a Living?
I help businesses tell their stories, communicate with their audiences, organize their marketing, and maintain a stronger online presence.
Sometimes that means developing a strategy. Sometimes it means creating content. Sometimes it means scheduling social media posts, managing a project, or taking care of the work that needs to happen behind the scenes.
But ultimately, I help business owners spend less time worrying about their marketing and more time focusing on the work they started their businesses to do.
That’s what I do.
That’s why I do it.
And hopefully, the next time someone asks my mom what I do for a living, she’ll have a slightly better answer. 😂
